Can you build on it?
Whether you can program the device yourself, read your recordings from your own code, see the source, connect it to AI assistants, and take your audio with you. A device you can build on, or export from, outlives its maker's app: Limitless owners lost new features when Meta bought the company. Each entry is from the brand's own developer pages or repository; a dash means we found no claim.

What the columns mean
- Device SDK: you can talk to the hardware directly (Bluetooth protocol, firmware, a published library) and write your own app for it. "On request" means a partner sign-up.
- API: you can read your own recordings, transcripts and summaries from code (often through a CLI or an MCP server).
- Open source: which parts are published under an open licence.
- MCP server: lets AI assistants such as Claude or ChatGPT search your recordings.
- Audio export: whether the original audio can be downloaded, not just the transcript.
